Choir News

During 2021 we bid farewell to Chris Beardsley, our long standing Musical Director who has left the area to be closer to his elderly family. Following a lengthy break during the Covid Lockdown we began singing together again in September and were soon working hard on our Christmas programme under the direction of Shaun Turnbull.  Shaun’s enthusiasm and his wealth of experience in choral singing has given the choir new impetus.

In December we were very happy to sing at the wedding of Stephen and Lisa Grantham in Ribchester. The choir sang during the wedding ceremony and provided a programme of seasonal carols beforehand.

In a departure from our previous practice we were invited to join with the choir of St Paul’s Church, Longridge in their Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols during the week before Christmas. The service included some challenging modern works as well as well known traditional carols and experience of singing with another group was appreciated by both choirs and by the large congregation.

In May 2022 we sang at St John's Church, Hurst Green. The choir performed a wide range of musical items suitable for a spring evening and the event raised £588 for the Jasmine Refugee Support Group.
